So Long (For Now) Madeira!

On my final days of visiting, I dropped a free copy of my book at a Portuguese Little Free Library in Ponta Do Sol. I hope a passing tourist or a local resident stumbles on the pages and finds another level of appreciation for the island and the influence it has on everyone. It’s a story about finding love in Madeira — and somehow I’ve been discovering even more to love while exploring every cliffside, café, and coastline along the way.

This trip has very much been a homecoming, a peaceful retreat, a time for reuniting with friends and family, and making new connections while enjoying the splendour of an island that keeps giving. It’s incredible how I always find new discoveries every time. The benefit of having autonomy with a car rental provided another level to organically find new treasures. And we did! So many memories were made.

By the grace of God, there were no incidents that could have impacted any of our plans, even as we straddled a Friday the 13th, and unlike last year, my wife and I were thankful to partake in the Carnaval celebrations without interruption. What a glorious parade full of colour and an infectious atmosphere! The city was abuzz that evening and we partied our hearts out.

As I had said in a previous blog post, while many things have changed, the feeling of being here is exactly the same. Madeira is our home away from home and we cannot wait to return again in the future. Until then, I have many video clips to share on my YouTube channel, which will take some time for editing, and some stories to workshop before publishing anywhere, however here are some photograph highlights from the trip. Until next time, Madeira! ✌️

What a wonderfully heartfelt and vivid reflection on your Madeira trip! I love how you capture not just the sights and experiences, but the emotions, connections, and sense of homecoming that make travel truly memorable. Dropping a copy of your book in a Little Free Library adds such a thoughtful and personal touch—sharing a story and inviting others to discover the island through your eyes is truly inspiring.
