3 Year Anniversary of The Portuguese Immigrant: Atlantic Heritage Story

3 Year Anniversary of The Portuguese Immigrant: Atlantic Heritage Story

It was 3 years ago when I set out on a self-publishing journey to share my grandfather’s story. It was a project that I had been working on for quite some time. As an aspiring author at the time, that was the biggest step of my writing career and one that could have panned out with many different outcomes.

I was so appreciative of the response that I got when I started to reach out to readers. If not for all the support and that of the Portuguese community, I would have probably put my notebook away and never looked at it again! Instead, their warmth and encouragement has been an inspiration for me! I truly appreciate it! My writing continues and I hope to publish more articles and eventually a third book one day.

Until then, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I hope you have been enjoying your time and wishing you health and happiness!

The Portuguese Immigrant: Atlantic Heritage Story

It was a fortuitous day when I was inspired by my family history. Deep genealogy research compelled me to make an impulsive decision. I began to write a book about my grandfather’s immigration to Canada.

Since he came here, I have been fortunate to be born and raised on this great land. Much of what he arrived with has disappeared with time. Now that I find myself representing a branch of a long Portuguese lineage, I wanted to document that piece of interesting history for the next generation.

So there I was, falling deeper down the rabbit hole as I uncovered lost details I had never known before. With each discovery I found a new understanding. That was a long and winding road leading up to my very existence. If not for his trials and tribulations, the road would not have been paved as the foundation for my life today. He was an exceptional immigrant. A pioneer of the Portuguese people. He lived an incredible life while surrounded by fascinating circumstances.

Weaving a wonderful tale of the struggles and triumphs as well as the rich culture of my ancestry, my book follows Vovô, who was the impetus for a new beginning. Embarking on the journey of a lifetime, he was guided by true love that carved out a fighting chance for my future.
